Rainfall Data Collection Instruments

The present program is based on a network of over 80 automatic rainfall recording stations installed at various coastal sites.
This network consists of 0.5mm tipping bucket rain gauges , which are logged by solid state recorders. The loggers deployed
are the Hydrological Services RDL01/02, Hydromace TRS and 2000 and the Aquadata.

The data is either downloaded in the field by PC or automatically downloaded via telemetry to the computer centre at Manly Vale. Once data has been transferred onto the Laboratory's VAX 4500 computer a suite of programs runs routines to ensure
the data is acceptable for inclusion in the database. At this stage rainfall data is available for external users and the raw data files are archived on optical disk.
