Lake Macquarie FloodWatch

Lake Macquarie FloodWatch

A number of rainfall and water level gauges are located across the Lake Macquarie catchment to the south-west of Newcastle. These provide information on actual rainfall and water levels in the area and will provide an indication if flooding is likely.

Keep an eye out for the following rainfall totals that will cause localised flooding and start to flood some roads:

  • 70mm in 3 hours (an average intensity of more than 20mm/hour) or
  • 150mm in 24 hours
